In the run up to this year’s International Choir Festival in Munich, children’s and youth choirs all over Germany welcomed international partner choirs a few days before the main festival as part of a "pre-festival". Guests from Brazil, France, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the USA visited German host choirs in Berlin, Cologne, Augsburg, Freiburg, and many smaller towns – bringing with them music, culture, and their first shared concert experiences. In addition to a wide range of leisure activities, the partner choirs rehearsed together, celebrated mass, gave concerts, sang peace prayers, and came together in larger numbers for sending ceremonies. They then traveled together to the festival in Munich, where they joined around 4,400 participants in 170 choirs from 18 countries.
