Elche successfully hosted the Extraordinary National Congress of Pueri Cantores “Les Veus del Cel”

The weekend of May 2-4, the city of Elche became the epicenter of music with the Extraordinary National Congress of Pueri Cantores “Les Veus del Cel.” This event, organized by the Patronato del Misteri d’Elx and promoted by the Spanish Federation of Pueri Cantores in collaboration with the Elche City Council, brought together more than 400 young Pueri Cantores from various regions of Spain, including Elche, Crevillente, Adra, Burgos, Murcia, Granollers, Guadix, Orihuela, Marbella and Pineda de Mar.

The Catalan Federation of Pueri Cantores also participated in the congress.

The celebration coincided with the Jubilee Year and the 75th anniversary of the proclamation of the Dogma of the Assumption, and served to promote cultural exchange, coexistence, and unity among young people, thus strengthening the choral tradition in an environment of learning and fun.

The congress began on Friday, May 2, with a moving procession, followed by the official reception of the Mayor of Elche at City Hall and concluded with the Jubilee Prayer in the Basilica of Santa María.

Throughout the weekend, attendees participated in various recreational activities and choral singing, including the highly anticipated Gala Concert on Saturday, May 3, at 9:00 p.m. in the same basilica, where each choir or choir school performed a musical piece.

The highlight of the event was the Closing Mass, celebrated on Sunday, May 4th at 10:00 a.m. in the basilica, officiated by the Bishop of Orihuela-Alicante, José Ignacio Munilla. During the Mass, more than 400 Pueri Cantores joined forces to perform the entire Mass repertoire, thus closing out a weekend filled with music, values, and fellowship.

We would like to deeply express our gratitude to the magnificent organization that made this successful event possible, as well as to all the participants and attendees who contributed to making “Les Veus del Cel” a memorable event. Without a doubt, Elche left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who took part in this Extraordinary Congress.
